ʜᴇ silence that fills the space between his defense of his own character and her
response to that defense is deafening, and it leaves him feeling slightly uneasy. The
way in which the pigtailed girl studies him all the while is partially to blame for that
feeling, or so he supposes — it’s almost as though she’s attempting to see through
him, or perhaps, she’s managed to see through him. Through the guise he’d worn,
the explanation he provided when the false accusations went flying. His intentions
were pure, that much was true. However, whether or not his words, be they the ones
he spoke or the ones he would no-doubt speak later on to further protect his pride,
would be enough to convince her of that was debatable.

ɴᴅ, at this particular moment, the best course of action seemed to be dropping the
subject altogether; perhaps to change it to something of more substance. A subject
that would not take a lens to his character, in an attempt to analyze him. Clearing his
throat, the noble speaks once more. “ᴀʟʀɪɢʜᴛ, then; seeing as how you’ve agreed,
perhaps you’d care to tell me where you’ve come from? Are you, perchance,
stranded — have you lost your way?”
Given all the winding roads and towns in
the area, it was not uncommon for one to end up in the wrong place. Especially
when they were not overly familiar with the area.

█{{✰}}██ ”…“ How to answer that is her main question, her home is nothing like this place and there was nothing else she can do to remotely give answers to that. For now she would drop her earlier thoughts and decide to figure out what exactly she should do at this point. He would desire something of a response this time as much as this isn’t her strong point, so she would try to give him what he desired of it. ”… hard to explain.“ Would that do? She hoped so, given she didn’t feel like going through a long explanation of why she didn’t speak well of her home much less anything about it. He may have had better ideas in mind than attempting to gain her fancy through honey eyed words or whatever he desired in any case. That’s nothing too different she supposed since there might be some who would try, as much as it would fly over her head.

She didn’t lose her way, nor was she certain if she was stranded there, but she would figure it out given time. Foreign areas were not her strong point either, this place especially is not up there on the whole… being known list. It wasn’t like she could just tell him that she was a being from a different world or anyone from here at this point, she’d rather not see the end result of this little decision she wouldn’t make. Not everyone would be accepting of her just running about with knowledge of her differences and everything coming straight to mind for them. A bridge she would cross later on, knowing it’s for the best to wait until she’s certain she may be able to trust them.

A response that had not been expected; and as such, had caused the noble in question to project an expression of dismay. It did not fully express the range of distraught emotions that he felt in that moment, but it did just enough to let the younger female know that her words had caused him a good amount of distress. Had her intention been to do such, she’d succeeded wholeheartedly. It wasn’t like she was wrong, not quite; but Virion had never seen his behavior to be such. Rather, it was more along the lines of … flattering the fairer sex.

Different words, same meaning, according to most; and that included the girl that he now addressed, it seemed.. His hands would move to rest upon his hips as his lower lip juts out slightly. Were there not such an obvious age difference between the two, one would think him to be the child, and the stoic teenager to be the adult. “ɪ … ɪ beg your pardon —!?” How to go about convincing her of the truth; that the intentions he had were not of that sort? She was but a child, after all — what sort of undignified being did she take him for?

image

"ʏᴏᴜ misunderstand my intentions entirely, dear girl! I approached merely because you seemed to be out of your element. Surely —” A flourish of his hand, once it raises from its position on his hips, so as to gesture to their surroundings; the bustling marketplace, the city in which the girl just slightly managed to stick out. "ʏᴏᴜ’ᴠᴇ noticed a difference between yourself and the citizens? It exists because you’re not of this land; I was simply curious as to where you’d come from. Simply curious — and nothing more!”

image

█{{✰}}██ ”…“ He’s trying to assist her? It seemed as if she did notice the similarities and yet she didn’t care much for their reactions to her choice of clothing; she’s simply use to it and thus far curious as to why he felt need to assist if not for what she would assume of his relationship with women. Surely the tealette had better things to do than help a child, but it’s his choice in this case to lend a hand to the wandering shooter. His choice, his time spent off on something that would be better suited to discover he may be better off finding out how far this child was on terms of being so… out of her element.

Curiosity can only drive one so far, with idea involving another person of interest from what little she can tell. Someone she knew was that curious to keep wanting to learn more so she told her what she could; this man however, she isn’t certain with which is the main reason she displayed caution to his actions. Much needed caution, a new land meant there was going to be surprises she hadn’t ran into just yet.

So she would listen, for now, he knew more than she did and that’s enough to drive her to follow him. The only thing is that she wouldn’t be able to properly tell if he were flirting or not with her, such was normal for it to go over her head unless the person was up front about their affectionate behavior towards her. Perhaps he had met his match? Maybe not, she isn’t too certain about those who lived here nor would she attempt to judge. ”… okay.“ Not that she believed him entirely.

“ʜᴀᴠɪɴɢ traversed these streets many a time, and having become so familiar with the townsfolk —”

It’s the beginning of a seemingly long-winded speech that the noble intends to deliver; specifically, to the foreign female that he’d laid eyes upon. The soles of his boots would thud softly against the cobblestone walk with each step that he took; made inaudible by the overall bustle and chatter of the marketplace. With ease, the blue-haired archer makes his way to the younger’s side. His body remains facing forward, inconspicious, as though to appear to be perusing the wares on sale; but his eyes are upon her, alight with a certain sense of curiosity.

“ɪᴛ is with absolute certainty that I am unable to recall any prior instance of sighting you.”

"ᴘʀᴀʏ tell, my dear, what was it that brought you here?”

█{{✰}}██ She actually didn’t remotely give this male the gift of her words; much less dare to speak given his chatty behavior did nothing to relinquish them. If anything she only just straightened up and pointed her deadpan gaze towards the archer before her. The azurette isn’t necessarily the kind of person she would trust like so many others easily. She’s only a child, a young one misplaced from her own time and world of desolate destruction with sword sheathed and cannon fortunately hidden off elsewhere. Thankfully if he were to take notice, he’d probably catch the blade and the scars decorating alabaster skin. Pale digits were already at her side as if to not make in any way an attempt to draw it thankfully, she preferred to not start a scene.

He would expect an answer of her, correct? The most she had done was shrug, she’s much too young if one thought about it for this regardless of the age she is. Mentally was different than physically from what could be thought about it, better yet, how did it go ignored that she hardly was dressed properly for this place?

That she couldn’t be from anywhere in this continent had to be known, or he was more focused on womanizing instead of that. “… womanizer.” A pale digit now pointed at him, it looked like she knew exactly what to memorize him with.
